Bicycles, Boardwalks, and Bookkeeping

Bicycles, boardwalks, and bookkeeping, these are my killer B’s, the things I love most!

To most people the first two of my killer B’s makes sense but bookkeeping? Who on earth actually likes to do bookkeeping work? I do!

Bookkeeping is like putting together a puzzle, outside, on a windy day. There are tons of pieces that are scattered everywhere. You know what the final product should look like but the thousands of pieces have got you stressed and feeling like you will never be able to put them all together. It takes time, dedication, and attention to detail to get all of the pieces together and even more to get all the pieces to stay together.

The journey to get all the puzzle pieces in their place can be difficult but the accomplished feeling you get when you lay that last piece makes the entire process worth it. But that is only the beginning.

Once the bookkeeping is complete, accurate, and up-to-date it can be used to make informed financial decisions. The information is incredibly valuable. With this information you can make better decisions that can increase revenue, decrease expenses, help you to know which jobs have been profitable and which have not been, help you find trends, and even spot outliers that could be affecting your bottom line.

Great bookkeeping and a great bookkeeper are important. Having these two things will help reduce the stress in your life, like riding a bike on the boardwalk.
